Returns for Unopened & Unused Products

Unopened and unused products can be returned to us within 45 days for a refund.

Please note:

  • Original shipping charges are not refundable

  • We do not provide return labels

  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer

  • Items must be unused and in original condition

Please contact us before sending anything back so we can provide return instructions.

Opened or Used Products

Because our paint is custom-mixed to the specific paint code selected when the order was placed, opened or used products are generally not eligible for return.

However:

If your concern qualifies under our Color Match Guarantee, we will review the issue and assist accordingly.

We may request photos or additional details to determine the best resolution.

Missing or Damaged Items

If your order arrives with missing items or visible damage:

  • Contact us as soon as possible:

    • Use Ask Shine to send us a message

    • OR email us at support@scratcheshappen.com

  • Include photos of the packaging and contents if applicable

We will replace missing or damaged goods at no charge.

Custom-Mixed Paint

Custom-mixed automotive paint is produced specifically for your vehicle’s color code.

If the color appears incorrect or there was a paint code mix-up — whether at your end or our end — please contact us before returning the product. Many color concerns can be resolved without a physical return.

Before Sending Anything Back

Please contact us first so we can:

  • Confirm eligibility

  • Provide return instructions (if applicable)

  • Determine whether your issue falls under the Color Match Guarantee

  • Determine whether a paint code issue can be resolved with a color exchange

This helps prevent delays and unnecessary shipping.

Do You Provide an RMA Number or RMA Label for Return?

We do not issue separate RMA numbers or prepaid return labels. If your return is approved by our Support team, your order number serves as your return reference (RMA).

Approved returns may be shipped using the carrier of your choice.

USA Returns

Aerosol Kits – USA Returns

Aerosol products must ship by a ground service that accepts limited-quantity hazardous materials. USPS typically accepts limited-quantity aerosol shipments via USPS Ground Advantage when marked appropriately for ground transport. We recommend confirming eligibility with your local post office before shipping.

Bottle Kits – USA Returns

Most bottle kits can be returned using USPS Ground or a similar service. Shipping cost typically ranges from $4–$6 depending on weight and location.

Canada Returns

Aerosol Kits – Canada Returns

Return shipping options for aerosol products in Canada may be limited, and not all carriers accept them. Canada Post does not accept aerosols. Purolator, FedEx and UPS handle consumer returns. Customers are responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping if eligible.

Bottle Kits – Canada Returns

Bottle kits may be returned using the carrier of your choice.

FAQ

Can I return a custom-mixed paint kit?
Unopened kits are eligible for return to us within 45 days for a refund. Opened or used paint that does not match is reviewed under our Color Match Guarantee.
Do you provide prepaid return labels?
No. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. If your item arrived damaged or there was an error on our part, please contact us at Support or via Ask Shine. In those cases, we will resolve the issue directly and you may not need to return the product.
I sold my car after ordering. Can I refuse the package when it arrives?

In many cases, yes — but it depends on the shipping carrier and the delivery status.

🇺🇸 U.S. Orders (USPS) If your order shipped via USPS recently and has not been opened, you may:

  • Write “REFUSED” clearly on the package

  • Leave it unopened

  • Return it to your local post office USPS will return it to us at no charge.

🇨🇦 Canada Orders If your order shipped via Canada Post recently and has not been opened, you may:

  • Write “REFUSED” on the package

  • Return it to a Canada Post location Canada Post will return it to us.

If your order shipped via Intelcom or FedEx, refusal is not supported.

Why are shipping methods for bottle kits and aerosol kits sometimes different?
Aerosol kits are pressurized and regulated for transport, so they must ship using ground services that accept limited-quantity hazardous materials. This can affect available carriers, delivery times, and shipping costs. Bottle kits are not pressurized, which allows them to ship using a wider range of services—including USPS Priority Mail domestically and international shipping to many destinations. Shipping availability may vary based on destination, carrier rules, and postal regulations.
