What Can I Do If I Purchased the Wrong Color?

Ordered the wrong paint code? We understand — it happens. In many cases we're able to help you get the correct color quickly.

Last updated on 18 Mar, 2026

We always recommend double-checking your vehicle's paint code before ordering. Our paint is custom-mixed to the paint code selected at checkout. If you realize there’s been a mistake, contact us as soon as possible so we can review your options.

If You’ve Already Opened the Kit

Sometimes a customer realizes they ordered the wrong color after opening the package.

Because our paint is custom-mixed to your vehicle’s color code, opened products are generally not eligible for return for a refund. In many cases, we’re able to work with you on an exchange instead.

Please contact us via Ask Shine or at Support with:

  • Your order number

  • The correct paint code for your vehicle

We’ll review your order and let you know the best next step.

If the Kit Is Unopened

If your kit is unopened and unused, it can be returned to us within 45 days under our standard return policy.

Please contact Support via Ask Shine before sending anything back so we can confirm return instructions.

Original shipping charges are not refundable, and customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

If you realized a paint code mistake before opening the package, and would like to contact us about exchanging just the paint, you can reach us via Ask Shine about that.

Need Help Finding the Right Color?

If you’re unsure about your vehicle’s paint code, double-check the paint code located on your vehicle before placing a new order or inquiring if we can do a paint exchange.

You can also use the Ask Shine™ button for help locating your paint code on the vehicle.

FAQ

Can I exchange one kit type for another?
No. Aerosol kits contain more product than bottle kits, so exchanges between kit types are not considered equal. If you think a different kit type would work better for your repair, use Ask Shine™ to contact Support before opening or returning anything.
I ordered the wrong color and realized it after the kit shipped. Help?
If your order has already shipped, contact us as soon as possible using Ask Shine™ or Support with your order number and the correct paint code. In many cases, we can arrange a paint exchange — we’ll send the correct paint color/code, and you return only the incorrect color. This is often the simplest option, since you only ship back the paint itself. If you prefer to return the entire unopened kit once it arrives instead, standard return shipping costs would apply. Please reach out before sending anything back so we can guide you.
