What Is Your Color Match Guarantee?

We guarantee that our touch up paint will match your vehicle's original finish, or your money back.

Last updated on 05 May, 2026

Because your paint is custom-mixed to the paint code selected in checkout, we just need a little information to review the match accurately.

What We’ll Need from You

To help us evaluate the color, please provide:

  • Proof of your vehicle’s original paint code
A clear photo of the parts identification sticker showing the color code is perfect. A dealer invoice or other documentation that confirms the paint code also works.

  • Photo of a test application next to your vehicle
A clear photo showing the painted test card next to your vehicle finish so that we can see the mismatch.

Why Do You Request the Two Photos about the Color Match?

These two photos help us resolve the color match issue for you. We can confirm the right paint code for your vehicle and what kind of mis-match we’re seeing. We often also ask for the year/make/model information too.

Altogether, this information helps us determine next steps. For example:

  1. The paint code may not be the right one for your vehicle

  2. Additional paint coats may be needed to fully develop the color (some colors, often blues, require this)

  3. The paint applied at the vehicle manufacturer’s factory can sometimes have minor batch inconsistencies

  4. Our technicians may identify another factor affecting the match

Our goal is to help you achieve a color match if we can or give your money back if we can't.

Why Do You Provide a Test Card in Every Kit?

It’s standard practice in automotive refinishing to perform a test application before applying paint to a vehicle. Professional body shops follow this step to confirm the color match first.

Testing on the included card helps protect your vehicle and ensures you’re confident in the match before applying paint to the repair area.

What Happens Next?

Once we review your information, we’ll let you know the best next step. In many cases, we can resolve the issue without requiring a full return.

Before Applying Paint to Your Vehicle

We recommend performing a test application on the included test card before applying paint to your vehicle.

  1. Bottle kits: Apply thin coats of paint and a couple coats of clear coat on a square at the edge of the grey part of the card. Once dry, hold the card next to your vehicle in indirect and direct light to assess the color match.

  2. Aerosol kits: Spray multiple coats of paint and a couple coats of clear coat on the test card. Once dry, hold the card next to your vehicle in indirect and direct light to assess the color match.

  3. If the color does not match, contact us before applying paint to your vehicle so we can review it together.

Color Match Guarantee is limited to one refund per color per customer.

FAQ

What if I already applied the paint to my vehicle?
If you’ve already applied the paint to your vehicle and believe the color does not match, please contact us with the requested photos. We’ll review your information and guide you on the best next step.
Do I have to use the test card before applying paint?
Yes. Testing first allows you to confirm the match before applying paint to your vehicle and helps us accurately diagnose any issues.
What if I no longer have the test card?
If the original test card is unavailable, you can use a clean, cardboard or foam core surface to perform a test application. Be sure to apply base coat and clear coat, allow it to dry fully, and view it next to your vehicle in indirect and direct light.
What if the paint code on my vehicle is the same as my order and the color doesn't match?
Even when the paint code is correct, other factors can affect the appearance of the finish, such as application technique, number of coats, lighting, and vehicle factory paint characteristics. The requested photos help us determine the cause and recommend the appropriate solution.
Does lighting affect how the color looks?
Yes. Color can appear different depending on lighting conditions (direct sun, shade, garage lighting, etc.). For accurate evaluation, please view your test application next to your vehicle in both indirect and direct light.
How long should I wait before evaluating the color match?
Allow the test application (paint + clear coat) to fully dry before comparing. The final appearance develops after the base color and clear coat have cured.
The paint in the bottle doesn't match my vehicle. Can I send that photo?
No. A photo of liquid paint in the bottle next to your vehicle isn’t an accurate comparison. Liquid paint can appear different from the final color because the solvents have not yet evaporated. The true color develops only after the paint is applied, allowed to dry fully, and clear coated. For evaluation, please apply the paint + clear coat to the included test card, let it dry completely, and view it next to your vehicle in direct and indirect light. If it doesn't match, send that photo to us.
The paint in the aerosol paint cap doesn't match my vehicle. Can I send that photo?
No. The paint visible in the aerosol cap is liquid paint captured during filling normally and has not fully dried. Because the solvents have not evaporated, it can appear different from the final cured color. The true color develops after proper application, drying, and clear coating. Please perform a test application on the included test card and send a photo of the fully dried result next to your vehicle.
Do I need to use primer when testing for color match?
If your repair requires primer, apply it to the test card just as you would on the vehicle before applying base color and clear coat.
